BDGS Pre-Valentine’s Spectacular!
From bad dates comes great material…
And at 7pm on February 10th at Solas Bar (9th street btwn 2nd and 3rd), these five people are going to make you laugh:
James Alexander is a New York based comic who has been in the game for about year and a half. He has performed at New York Comedy Club and Broadway Comedy Club, and this past August he headlined the Comic Diversity Show at the Laurie Beechman Theater. He’s been known to perform at any bar, lounge, theater, or Hostel that’ll have him. He is also one of the co-producers of Thunderbird Comedy with 3 other comics and they run a monthly show at the Grisly Pear on MacDougal Street that is getting great reviews.
Liz Days has an unexplained and sometimes frightening amount of natural energy!! The product of a loving multicultural home, Liz is a long-time renter in NYC, has performed as a comedian & actor all over the city, and is the co-producer of Liz & Missy’s Comedy Party, a monthly show on the LES.
Lauren Holmes has a perfect dog named Tallulah and a sadisitic cat named Vince, and is looking for dates who aren’t allergic and like being bitten (not in the sexy way).
PE Nolan has developed a reputation as a theologian and subversive due to her blog, Menopausal Stoners. She contributes to the websites Roundtree7and Worldwide Hippies, and she reads regularly in the humor series Drunken! Careening! Writers! at KGB Bar. One of those appearances resulted in a clause in her divorce decree that requires her to write under a pseudonym, so she decided to name herself after her Granny the Ho, who had five husbands. Tricia has been teaching preschool for more than twenty years and holds Masters Degrees in both Early Childhood and Secondary Education.
Roy Scranton ‘s short stories, essays, and poetry have appeared in LIT, The Massachusetts Review, New Letters, The New York Times, and elsewhere. He is currently earning a PhD in English at Princeton.
With additional readings from your hosts:
And special guest stars:
Elektra is the BDGS mascot.
Roman Palitsky is the author of “Whatever you are feeling right now is exactly what you are supposed to be feeling.” Due to a date, he might be at the event only in spirit. If you see him, shun him for his bad decision.
Bring your friends, bring your enemies, bring your exes (seriously–this has been known to happen) and bring five dollars to support the growth of BDGS. Extended happy hour.
