We are pleased to announce that on Saturday, March 19th 2016 at 5pm, New York’s Bad Date Great Story show will have its twenty-first performance. We’re legal baby!
Going on six years of celebrating bad dates with NYC’s funniest people in downtown Manhattan, BDGS will perform at its current home the famous The Bitter End, 147 Bleecker Street— New York’s oldest rock club.
Being that heartbreak and crappy dates are older than time—the venue couldn’t be more fitting!
Past performers range from the SNL’s hilarious Sasheer Zamata… to performers we’ve loved for years like the endearing Mara Wilson… and epic comedians who are grabbing headlines nationwide on Comedy Central and Last Comic Standing like Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Aparna Nancherla and Broad City writer Naomi Ekperigin—As well as literary darlings, like National Book Award winner of Redeployment writer Phil Klay. We are so lucky for these next five to hit the BDGS stage:
Join five stellar talents:
Charlotte Glasser The Moth legend and LGBT events supercreator
Francesca Hogi, Two time Survivor contestant, love expert regularly featured on Today show with Kathie Lee & Hoda
Sean Wilkinson Comedy festival God, fake beauty pageant winner
Dru Johnston, Writer for Slate, MTV, last seen on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Petey DeAbreu, Taking over the NYC comedy scene…
The event will be in typical BDGS fashion be bursting with slap bracelets, candy and oh so juicy stories….
Tickets are $7, but please email us if you are press (or we forgot we owe you money) and we’ll leave tickets in your name at the door!
#TBT to our last Bad Date Great Story show!
When MOTH winner Brian Kennedy moved to Minneapolis post-college, he was excited to meet a man who could show him the ropes. Phil seemed like the perfect guy to do so–until their “tour” of Minneapolis took an unexpected turn.
Next show is at The Bitter End on Oct 3rd! Hope to see you there!
Stay tuned for more details… we’re not fooling when we say this is going to be a line up you won’t wanna miss!
The plan was a birthday bar crawl for my best friend followed by a drunken sleepover at our friend’s big Brooklyn apartment. I brought my boyfriend (now husband). Not a huge deal, but he was meeting some of my friends and he wasn’t a big fan of NYC at the time.
Could we love her anymore? Since our show she’s been on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and she will always be on our favorite list!!!
This happened a few months ago, but it’s now a running joke with my coworkers.
I had been seeing this guy a couple of times, and for our third date we went to a restaurant that was serving a special dinner for Restaurant Week.
Now, I’ll preface this with the fact that I had a questionable lunch. When we got to the restaurant, I felt suddenly hot, and sweaty on and off.
“Is it warm in here?”
“No, it’s actually just perfect…” Maybe I was just thirsty and needed to drink more water.
Then the salad came out.
“Do you feel okay?”
“Sure, I haven’t eaten in a little bit so I must be just hungry.”
This was the last thing I said on this date, I proceeded to projectile vomit on the salad, on myself, and partially on my date. Oh, and before you ask, he’s the one that said “I think you should go home now.”
On my way home from my “date” I also had to pull over and continue to vomit in the street. It was food poisoning. I never heard from the guy again.
